Day 20, Kitchener to Burlington

Day 20, and our first meeting point of the day was downtown Kitchener.....

at the Museum, an interactive children's museum. I remember this place from the 25th anniversary Rick Hansen relay.

The relay celebrations team put on a presentation about the Pan-Am games and the relay, and the torchbearers got the star treatment.

you never know what your going to see around the corner here at the museum

I always knew I had an electric personality

Proud, excited, and ready.

just cruisin
Next stop, Brantford, Ontario (population around 94,000). I did not know Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in Brantford, hence the name "the telephone city".

had that happen before.......

also th hometown of the hockey legend, Wayne Gretzky.

Our second meeting point of the day was at the Wayne Gretzky sports centre.

Which is situated on Walter Gretzky Blvd, named after his father.

Where's Walter? Bottom 2nd from right, this was not our group, but I was there to snap a pic.
Haley and I had to go into downtown to find out where the insertion point was for our first torchbearer, and we couldn't help the random lion pic

Hoo boy.

The post office building downtown with the clock tower, was an impressive site. (built in 1915)

Our group had some noteables. Two ladies that work for the 2016 Rio De Janeiro torch relay were here observing, and had a chance to run with the torch. We also had two young ladies that will be part of the team Canada woman's softball team participating in the Pan-Am games.

back inside the Wayne Gretzky arena, I had a chance to check out the number 99 shrine.

Including replica trophies, including 4 Stanley Cups, that he won over his storied career.

Heading down highway 403, I can see Burlington in the distance. (we did not have a meeting point, but had to stop by another medal bearer briefing)

Burlington (population around 176.000) , had their Sound of Music festival going on the waterfront, a nice tie in with the end of day celebration for the torch relay.

a nice shot on the pier looking out over Lake Ontario

that's a big lake right there!

back at our hotel, Rick and Travis were holding down the fort at the supply truck. Tomorrow, Niagara Falls
